Is an entrance fee payable for the Gardens?

Garden visitors must have a valid Newt Membership prior to entry. This offers unlimited access to the gardens for 12 months, as well as seasonal workshops and events.

2021 PRICES - £48 per adult, Children (0-16 yrs) are free of charge as long as they are accompanied by an adult member.

How do I buy a Member’s Guest Pass?

Member’s Guest Passes can be purchased at the Gatehouse for £15. The guest pass is valid for single entry, for one adult, for the date of purchase only.

Each member can purchase up to 6 Guest Passes on any given day. There is no limit to the total number of passes that can be purchased over the 12 months of your membership.

Please note, Guest Passes can only be purchased in person on the day of the visit and are not available in advance.

Do guests need to be accompanied by a Newt Member?

Guests must be accompanied by a Newt Member to purchase their guest pass.

How do I purchase a Newt Membership as a gift?

This includes a 12-month Membership to The Newt from the day it is first used.

HOW TO REDEEM:

The recipient just needs to bring this card to The Newt in Somerset and staff will take your details and send a Newt Membership code to get you signed up. After that, you can visit as many times as you like over the next 12 months.

Does the Garden Café take bookings?

Head to Plan Your Visit on The Newt website to book, or email their helpful Reservations team - reservations@thenewtinsomerset.com.

If you scroll down on this page, you will be able to book a reservation for your Lunch.

Note: Newt Membership is required to dine in the Garden Cafe.

Are picnics allowed in the Garden?

The Newt does not allow personal picnics in the gardens, however, please do enjoy the relaxed service offered at their Garden Cafe or you can arrange a takeaway picnic from their Cyder Bar. The Cyder Bar serves as an order and collection point for daily picnics fresh from the Bakery. You can also buy hot drinks which you do not need to book in advance.

The Garden Café is open every day for members and hotel guests, serving vegetable-led menus with locally-reared meats. Advance booking is required, with a deposit of £5pp for breakfast and £10pp for lunch.

How do I create my Newt Membership with the code I have been given?

To create your Newt membership, click the tickets icon in the Candide app and input the 8 lettered code The Newt have given you when prompted.

Please note that you only have 30 days to redeem your Newt Membership Code.

Is my Mobile Newt account the same as my Newt Member Profile?

Yes, these two things are the same, however, you need to add your Newt Membership to your profile, so we know you have a valid Newt Membership to receive benefits.

Can a Member’s Guest Pass be upgraded to a Newt Membership?

Unfortunately, a Member’s Guest Pass cannot be upgraded to full Newt Membership.

Is there a limit on how many children can enter free with a paid Newt Member?

There is no limit on the number of children that can accompany an adult member. We ask large family, community or school groups (over 8 children) to contact The Newt in advance of visiting, so that they can cater for your requirements accordingly.

Can I have a refund for the Newt Membership I purchased previously for my child, now that this is no longer required?

No, The Newt cannot give refunds for child Newt Memberships purchased prior to 17 May 2021.

Can I have a refund for Newt Memberships I have purchased that have not yet been used, so I can visit as a Member’s Guest?

No, The Newt cannot give refunds for Newt Memberships purchased prior to 17 May 2021.

Is the estate wheelchair friendly?

All gardens areas are accessible to wheelchairs and strollers, though via indirect routes – often up thick lawns, steep gradients, uneven ground and gravelled pathways. Pushchairs may be stored at The Threshing Barn, and for longer distances transport is available for those requiring assistance.

Do you allow dogs?

Regrettably, we cannot allow dogs (except assistance dogs) as we keep various types of deer and fowl in open areas.

Are guests allowed to eat the fruit and vegetables in the garden?

All The Newt restaurants enjoy the benefit of low food miles, with much of the menu picked from the gardens they overlook. Should you spot a blackberry in the woods or a vine-ripened tomato in the Greenhouse, feel free to have a taste.
